Drove under influence of ganja; police block couple using crane; multiple accidents

KOTTAYAM: Couple who caused accidents by recklessly driving a car under the influence of ganja is in custody. Arun, a native of Kayamkulam, and his wife, Dhanusha, a native of Karnataka, were arrested. They were driving dangerously on the MC road from Kottayam Mariyappally to Chingavanam.

The car had crashed into several vehicles before stopping. Chingavanam police caught the couple by parking a crane across the road forcing them to stop the car. The police also seized five grams of ganja during the search of the car.

The incident took place this afternoon at 1:30. They were driving the car at excessive speed violating the traffic rules. The locals are the ones who informed the police about the reckless driving. Later, the car was blocked on the road near the police station using the crane. Both were not ready to get out of the car. The police forcefully dragged them out of the car and transferred them to the police jeep. The police informed that they were intoxicated at the time of their arrest. Currently, a case has been filed against the couple for dangerous driving while intoxicated.
