KOCHI: Excise has arrested two members of the gang accused of selling chemical drugs by driving around in the town. The arrested have been identified as Amil Chandran (28 years old), a native of Kollam's Munroe Island, and Abhijith (30 years old), a native of Elamakkara in Kaloor. 7 grams of crystal MDMA was recovered from them. They were caught in a joint operation by the state excise enforcement squad, excise intelligence and Ernakulam special squad party.

Six cars run as online taxis in Ernakulam town under the supervision of the arrested Amil Chandran. After the state excise enforcement squad gave information that he was dealing in drugs, Excise shadow members were monitoring their movements.

Realizing that their method was to hand over the drugs to the needy by putting them in cigarette packets and throwing from their car, the Excise team secretly followed their vehicle and cornered the car near Elamakkara's Punnakkal Junction. Amil Chandran's accomplice Abhijith got out of the car and tried to run but was caught. Excise also seized two mobile phones used for transactions and a nano-weighing machine used for weighing and selling drugs.

The accused have revealed in the interrogation that they used to charge Rs 3000 per gram. They used to go to Goa and buy drugs and bring them to Kerala by creating an impression of a family trip. The authorities have received details of the people belonging to their group. State excise enforcement squad head assistant commissioner Shri T Anikumar informed that they will also be arrested in the coming days. The accused were produced in court and remanded.
