Memories do not die; Dr. Vandana's room becomes her memorial

vandana

KOTTAYAM: Tulsi plants have started sprouting around the ground where Dr Vandanadas sleeps adjacent to the house in Muttuchira Nampichirakala. A roof has been built to keep out rain and sun. Two lonely souls are there taking care of the plants like a daughter by watering and pruning weeds. The lamp under that roof in the courtyard is lit daily. The memories of Vandana fill even the slightest breeze even though ten months have faded away. Father KG Mohandas and mother Vasantakumari are still unable to accept the fact that Vandana is gone. Vandana's room is like an eternal memorial.

A photo of Dr Vandana Das is on the table surrounded by roses. A burning lamp is there beside it. Her favourite sweets are also there. Vandana's three watches are on top of the laptop. A white coat with the name of Azeezia Medical College on the hanger and Vandana's stethoscope next to it. A closet full of stacked clothes. Various pictures of Vandana in the room...

It was only days after Vandana was killed that Azeezia Medical College delivered the items to her home. The prayers and offerings for Vandana have not been stopped. Both of them have already visited all the temples they wanted to go to with their daughter. On the day of the High Court verdict dismissing the CBI investigation, both of them were at the Madurai temple with prayers. CBI should come and find out if there is a conspiracy behind the murder. Vandana's parents are continuing their fight for it.

"We will approach the division bench next week. There is hope in court. We live in her memories now.
