KOCHI: In a relief for Peerumedu MLA Vazhoor Soman, the Kerala High Court has dismissed a petition seeking the cancellation of his election. The petition was filed by his opposite candidate Cyriac Thomas. In his petition, Cyriac Thomas had alleged that Soman had concealed some facts in his affidavit.

Cyriac Thomas alleged that Vazhoor Soman contested the Assembly elections while he was serving as the chairman of the Kerala State Warehousing Corporation and that he had concealed this fact in the nomination paper. Cyriac Thomas also alleged that several columns were left unfilled in Soman's nomination paper and that it is illegal to accept incomplete nomination papers.

Soman later testified in court that he did not conceal anything purposefully and that corrections were made in the nomination paper with the permission of the electoral officer.
