THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Governor Arif Mohammad Khan railed against Higher Education Minister and Pro-Chancellor R Bindu for attending the university senate meeting. Governor Khan then referred a High Court ruling that barred ministers from attending the meeting.

Governor Khan rebuked Minister Bindu for not showing minimum courtesy to the court ruling. He also lashed out at the recurring SFI protest of waving black flag at him, saying it was a plan perpetrated by the unholy nexus of the SFI and Popular Front alliance.

The senate meeting was held to appoint a representative to the search committee formed to select the VC. The meeting was chaired by the Minister instead of the Vice Chancellor, that is the Governor. It was at the order of the Governor that a meeting was first scheduled. However, it was a drama of the highest order when the minister came early to the meeting and settled on the registrar's chair informing everyone that she would be presiding over the meeting. The meeting also quashed all of the Governor's suggestions.
