ALUVA: A youngster who reached Kerala on a three-day leave to attend his sister’s wedding had to survive three hours of agony after his baggage that contained seven sovereigns of gold necklace, passport and money went missing from Aluva railway station.

Faisal Abdullah (42) of Madina Manzil in Kanhangad underwent such a scare after all his belongings were lost in the blink of an eye. Railway employees, porters, taxi drivers and RPF searched for Faisal, who lost his bag, at Aluva railway station yesterday morning from 5:30 to 8:30 am. Everyone in the railway station started searching for Faisal’s bag and in the meanwhile, one Kannur intercity train also passed by, which aggravated the concern.

The search yielded no result as Faisal was earlier seated at various parts of the railway station, some of which he failed to recognise. Ending the long grief, railway employee Anish, a native of Mambra, finally recovered the bag from the third platform.

Faisal's sister Khadija is getting married on Thursday. He reached Nedumbassery from Saudi only to attend his sister’s wedding. He then reached Aluva railway station by taxi and then sought the help of porters to bring his assortment of luggage inside the railway station. However, one of the bags got lost on the platform.

Finally, Anish found the bag and handed it over to RPF. A relieved Faisal finally received the bag from ASI Thomas Dalvy. The bag also had Faisal’s return flight ticket. Faisal, who has been working abroad for nearly 20 years, came to Kerala only a month ago. Faisal said that if he had lost his passport, he would have been unable to return in time and would have lost his job. Surviving such a scare, Faisal at last happily returned to his home town on a train, only after thanking everyone at the railway station.
