'Wrong' blood transfusion at govt hospital, 23-year-old's tragic fate after suffering accident

JAIPUR: Due to this negligence on the part of a government hospital authorities, a 23-year-old man died after receiving blood belonging to a wrong group during transfusion. The deceased Sachin Sharma was admitted to the hospital after being injured in an accident and was in need of blood transfusion.

Sachin was undergoing treatment at the trauma center. A ward boy at the trauma centre was transfused Sachin with O-positive blood instead of the AB-positive blood. The incident took place at Sawai Man Singh Hospital in Jaipur.

SMS Hospital Superintendent Achal Sharma said that a special committee has been formed to investigate the matter and action will be taken after receiving the report. Sachin Sharma's two kidneys failed after blood transfusion.
