Son beats mother to death in Kayamkulam over fight at temple fest

ALAPPUZHA: A son brutally beat his mother to death in Kayamkulam. The dead has been identified as Shanthamma (71) of Puthupally Mahila Mukku Panikkasseri. Brahmadevan (43), the woman’s younger son has been taken into custody by the Kayamkulam police.

The police said that a festival in the temple near her house was going on. Shanthamma had a fight with some locals while having food in the festival ground. In a fit of rage, her son called her and then took her home. Soon after reaching home, he beat her brutally and killed her.

Police said Shanthamma died on the spot itself. The police are questioning her son, who is in their custody.
