KOCHI: Prema Kumari, mother of Nimisha Priya, sentenced to death in Yemen, told media that there is relief and all other things are being looked after by the lawyers. Prema Kumari will be travelling to Yemen to meet her daughter Nimisha Priya. All got their visas last week. Volunteer Samuel Jerome is also accompanying them.
Prema Kumari said other things should be done. She said their goal is to meet the family of Yemeni citizen killed. The Yemeni government will release Nimisha Priya from jail only if his family allows. The trial court awarded death penalty to Nimisha Priya and her friend for killing the Yemeni. This was also upheld by the Supreme Court. In this situation, the Delhi High Court allowed Prema Kumari's request to meet the Yemeni citizen's family.
Visa procedures have been completed. Have to take the ticket. Talks are being held with a travel agency in Mumbai on the routes to follow. Once it is decided then the travel date will be decided. Discussions are going on with the Indian Embassy and everyone. Lawyer Subhash Chandran, who appeared in the high court for Prema Kumari told media that they are hopeful to leave within a week or two.
