'Suspension ill-timed, won't take legal steps'; Suspended VC Saseendranath responds to Governor's decision

WAYANAD: Suspended Vice-Chancellor of Pookode University Dr M.R. Saseendranath termed Governor’s abrupt decision to suspend him as ‘ill-timed’. Saseendranath said he was all set to take punitive action against the assistant warden of the college and the dean when the suspension news surfaced.

Dr. M.R. Saseendranath -

The college had formed two committees in connection with Siddharth's death. Anti-ragging squad and anti-ragging committee were formed. Yesterday was the date for submitting the inquiry report to the UGC. The dean's report came on Friday at 10:30 pm and it was immediately uploaded to UGC. In the findings, it was clear about the error committed by both the dean and the warden, so an action against them was planned. Then came the news regarding the suspension of VC.

The argument about the college being a den for criminal-minded thugs is pointless and cannot be accepted. Any issue within the hostel should be immediately reported to the dean. Whatever it be, the current issue is deplorable and should not ever happen on any college campus.

I have five months left for my term. My decision is not to move legally against the suspension. The argument that there is a PFI-SFI nexus in the college is a baseless one. The Governor's action cannot be considered as any sort of revenge.
