Security label system to make foreign liquor supply more transparent; 30 security features

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Security label system with 30 security features is coming to make the distribution of Indian-made foreign liquor transparent and safe. The biggest feature of taggant-based holographic tax label with QR code is the track and trace facility. The hologram is designed by C-DIT.

Beverages Corporation CMD Yogesh Gupta, Excise Commissioner Mahipal Yadav and C-DIT Registrar Jayadev Anand AK signed the MoU on hologram in the presence of Excise Minister MB Rajesh. C-DIT Director Jayaraj G also attended. A trial run of the system is underway. The brand-new hologram will start appearing on liquor bottles very soon.

Features

By scanning the QR code, one can know in which warehouse the liquor was stored and when the sale came into stock. Tax evasion can be completely prevented. The status of total liquor sales in the state will be known in real time. The authorities can know all the details like how much liquor in which shops and how much each brand sells every day with a single click. The main objective of the track and trace system is to trace the excise duty on each bottle of liquor leaving the distilleries and prevent the trend of leakage of duty-free liquor. The excise department can monitor the entire supply chain. All possibility of fake labels will be eliminated. Along with this, loopholed security facilities like taggant molecule alarm, UV light are also provided. Labels have the same security features as currency. A mobile application is also being developed for the Excise Department for real-time tracking and monitoring. The 30 security features now are a modified second version of the Hologram that incorporates the 15 security features provided by CDIT since 2002.
