KALPETTA: Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University Vice Chancellor has suspended College Dean MK Narayanan and Assistant Warden Dr Kanthanathan over the incidents in connection with the death of student Siddharth. Vice Chancellor Dr PC Saseendran issued an order suspending both of them from their posts after rejecting the explanation given by them.
It has not been specified how long the suspension will last. Earlier, the Governor had suspended MR Saseendranath, the Vice-Chancellor of the university. Following this, PC Saseendran was appointed as the new VC. Although action was taken against the Vice-Chancellor, there was widespread criticism for not taking action against the Dean, who was also in charge of the Hostel Warden, and the Assistant Warden.
Veterinary University VC had issued show cause notices to both MK Narayanan and Dr Kanthanathan over the incidents in the university. Following this, both of them submitted their explanations today. They said that they intervened and did everything according to the law soon after learning about the death of the student. Both of them explained that there was no lapse on their part in the incident. However, the VC stated in the order that the replies were not satisfactory.
