THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The CBI, probing the death of veterinary student Siddharth, has re-registered the FIR in the Kalpetta Judicial Magistrate's Court. In its preliminary information report, the CBI pointed out that apart from the 20 persons named accused by the police, more unknown persons are likely to be named accused in the case. The FIR was filed by Superintendent Arvind Kumar Upadhyay of Delhi CBI Special Crime Unit II. The CBI took over the investigation on Friday.

The CBI will record the statement of Siddharth's father Jayaprakash today. T Jayaprakash, a native of Nedumangad in Thiruvananthapuram, arrived in Wayanad yesterday to give his statement. He is likely to reach the CBI camp office in Vythiri at 11 am today. He said that more evidence, which he did not give to the police, would be handed over to the CBI. Siddharth's parents had been claiming there were more accused involved in the case right from the beginning.

CBI has re-registered the case registered earlier by Vythiri police. Inspector Satyapal Yadav of Delhi is the investigating officer. The government order handing over the case to the CBI, the gazette notification and the central order of the case were handed over to the court. Although there is a crime branch unit of the CBI in Thiruvananthapuram, Siddharth's parents had demanded that a unit outside Kerala should investigate the case. That is how the investigation was handed over to the Delhi unit.
