THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A recent report has claimed that there was a serious lapse in handing over the probe regarding veterinary student JS Siddharth's death to the CBI. The order in this regard was issued on March 9. However, the state police have not yet handed over the proforma report of the investigation to the CBI.

As per the rule, the translation of the FIR should be there in the proforma report and a DySP should deliver the documents to Delhi. However, it is alleged that the police started preparing the proforma report only the other day. It was Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan who informed Siddharth's father Jayaprakash that the investigation will be handed over to the CBI. The government had highlighted this move as a big achievement. The ruling party hoped that by handing over the probe to the CBI, it could overcome the allegation that the government was trying to protect the SFI activists named accused in the case.

Meanwhile, Jayaprakash held a discussion with Opposition Leader VD Satheesan today alleging that there was no progress in the investigation into his son's death. He said that he would protest in front of the Cliff House if the investigation is further delayed.
