Smoke, strong odour fills Indigo flight bound for Saudi, 42-year-old arrested in Mumbai

MUMBAI: A 42-year-old man was arrested for smoking a beedi in the toilet of an IndiGo flight from Delhi to Riyadh via Mumbai. 42-year-old Mohammed Fakruddin Mohammed Ammuruddin, who boarded the flight from Delhi, was later arrested in Mumbai. A strong smell filled the cabin, following which the flight crew found him sitting on the toilet and smoking beedi.

After the plane landed in Mumbai, the accused was handed over to the police. It is not clear how the man sneaked in a beedi and lighter inside the flight. Airline officials said that interrogation revealed that Mohammad Fakruddin was working in Riyadh.

Mohammad Fakruddin has been booked under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including Section 336 (endangering the life or personal safety of others) and the Aircraft Act. The accused was produced in the court and remanded in judicial custody.
