Two elephants goes berserk in separate incidents during Shivarathri festival

THRISSUR: Two elephants ran berserk in separate incidents in Kunnamkulam on the occasion of Shivarathri festival. The incidents took place during the festivals of different temples in Pengamukku and Poravoor. Tusker Oottoli Chanthu, who was brought in for the Shivarathri festival at Pengamukku Peedikeswaram Shiva Temple ran berserk while circumambulating the temple. The elephant was tamed by the mahouts and the elephant squad. Because of the incident, the elephant was no longer assembled in the procession.

In another incident at Perumbivu's Poravoor, tusker Panancheri Parameswaran ran amok. The incident happened at 5.30 am on Thursday. While being taken to the temple, the elephant ran into the nearby field. The jumbo, who stopped in the field, was brought under control after a lot of effort by the elephant squad.
