Citizenship Amendment Act: Congress does not have clear stand, says CM

SULTAN BATHERY: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Saturday reiterated that the Congress does not have a clear stand on the Citizenship Amendment Act, which will destroy secular India. He was inaugurating the election campaign of Annie Raja, the LDF candidate in Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency, in Sultan Bathery.

"Not a single one of the 18 Congress MPs from Kerala raised their voice against the CAA in Parliament. The Congress initially sided with the Left in the state regarding the Citizenship Amendment Act, but later changed its stance and supported the BJP," the CM said.

"Kerala's voice is becoming silent in the Parliament. The reason for this is the setback faced by the Left front last time. Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi is the person who should be the main voice of Congress in Parliament. Did he speak for the people of Wayanad? People in Wayanad continue to lose lives due to wild animal attacks. No permanent solution can be found for this without amending the Forest Act. Wayanad MP can't even put pressure on the central government. Without amending the law, one may end up in jail if one shoots wild animals. Everything that the state government can do will be done on a war footing," he added.

Kerala Congress (M) State Secretary KJ Devasya presided over the function.
