PALAKKAD: Vande Bharat Express train hits elderly person, leading to his death. The incident occurred in Pattambi, Palakkad, where Muthumala Azhakathumana Damodaran Namboothiri died.

The accident occurred near Pattambi railway station around 10:30 this morning. The Vande Bharat Express, traveling from Mangalore to Thiruvananthapuram, struck him while he was attempting to cross the tracks. Damodaran Namboothiri was a retired teacher from Muthumala AUP School.

Vande Bharat train has been involved in several accidents due to its low noise level and high speed. Most of the incidents involved collisions with cows in northern states. Just yesterday, a mother and her two children died after being hit by the Vande Bharat Express in Meerut. Naresh's wife, Mona (40) and their children, Manisha (14) and Charu (7), were among the victims.

Naresh works as a rickshaw puller. The Superintendent of Police reported that the accident occurred as the family was crossing a closed railway crossing in Kasambur. Additionally, the police discovered that Naresh was intoxicated at the time of the incident. Although he sustained minor injuries, he managed to escape. The family was hit by a train traveling from Delhi to Dehradun.
