Unhealthy criticism on social media; ones who make them are reflecting their own culture: High Court

kerala-high-court

KOCHI: High Court said that those who make unhealthy criticism, including on social media, reflect their own culture and such criticisms cannot discredit the position of judges. CPM leader P Jayarajan had criticized the single bench verdict that acquitted some of the accused in the attempted murder case against him. On March 1, Jayarajan wrote on Facebook that people should react against the worms in the judiciary. Justice Devan Ramachandran's reference was in the petition filed by N Prakash asking the High Court Registrar General to take contempt of court action against this.

The High Court said that those who use computers and mobiles to make such unwholesome criticisms think that everything is confidential. Those who face defamation have all the protections of the Constitution. The Registrar General is empowered to initiate contempt proceedings. The court disposed of the petition stating that the petitioner could approach the court for that purpose and that no special order was required.
