NEW DELHI: Amid rumours of him switching to BJP, former Devikulam MLA S Rajendran on Thursday clarified that he has decided to stay with the CPM. The former MLA said this after he met with Prakash Javadekar in Delhi.
"It was a friendly meeting with Prakash Javadekar. I have been friends with Javadekar before. We didn't discuss entry to BJP. I'm still with the left. There was an invitation from the BJP. But I'm not going. I decide to stand with the CPM," S Rajendran said.
Rajendran also opened up about the problems with the party. "Problems with the party will be discussed and resolved. I'm not very active in the party now," he added.
Meanwhile, CPM Idukki District Secretary CV Varghese stated that Rajendran will not leave the party. "The meeting between S Rajendran and Javadekar does not need to be given any other dimensions. CPM has no objection to personal meetings," he said.
Rajendran was suspended from the party for working against A Raja, who was the CPM candidate in the Devikulam constituency. He was also discontent that he was not taken back after the expiry of the term.
