AGRA: There are many women who quarrel with their husbands or his family members and return to their own houses. They will either divorce or compromise. Meantime, a youth has filed a complaint with the police against his mother-in-law for demanding Rs 5 lakh to let his wife return to him.

The case has reached the court. The incident came to light after the Agra Family Court shifted the issue to the family counseling center. The youth from Iradat Nagar in Agra and the woman from Ramgarh in Firozabad got married in 2022. There were differences of opinion between the two and soon the woman returned home.

The mother-in-law demanded Rs 50,000 from the youth when he went to bring her back. He borrowed the money from his friend and paid her the amount on that day itself. He then came home with his wife. However, problems started again and the woman went to her own house again.

This time the mother-in-law demanded Rs 5 lakh from the youth. The mother-in-law insisted that she has spent Rs 5 lakh since her daughter's return and only if he pays that amount, she will let her daughter leave with him. With this, the youth lodged a complaint with the police. The mother-in-law stood firm in her stand at the family court that he should pay Rs 5 lakh for her daughter’s return. However, during counselling, the youth alleged that his wife has an extra-marital affair with a neighbor and that this was behind the problems.
