THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Since the onset of February, Kerala has been grappling with severe heat capable of inducing fatigue. Even air conditioners in homes prove to be of little use to fight this torpor. The heat is going uncontrollably high and then comes the warning from the Disaster Management Authority and the Meteorological Center advising people to practice caution, as the heat may become more intense in the coming days.
The Central Meteorological Department has warned that the temperature may rise to three degrees in various districts till April 6. A yellow alert has been declared in eleven districts of the state given the possibility of a heat increase.
The temperature will rise to 39 degrees in Kollam and Palakkad districts, 37 degrees in Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Kozhikode and Thrissur districts, and 36 degrees in Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Malappuram, Kannur and Kasaragod districts
The heat and the humidity will surely take a toll on people with many expected to feel fatigue in the coming days. The Disaster Management Authority and the Health Department have warned that exposure to direct sunlight should be avoided as much as possible. It is also recommended to drink plenty of clean water and avoid alcohol, coffee, tea, and carbonated soft drinks during the day.
