UDF in political muddle after SDPI announces support

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Both LDF and BJP were gifted a strong political weapon to attack UDF after SDPI publicly announced their support for UDF in the upcoming elections. It is worth mentioning that SDPI will not contest elections this time.

Allegations are being made against the UDF terming SDPI as a subsidiary of the banned outfit Popular Front. BJP state president K Surendran termed this alliance to be the most dangerous pact made by UDF in Kerala. He also asked the UDF leadership to reveal the party’s covert nexus with SDPI.

Meanwhile, Congress-UDF leaders denied conducting any discussion with SDPI leaders on the purported alliance. Meanwhile, in a timely riposte, the opposition leader reminded CPM of their existing alliance with SDPI in Pathanamthitta local bodies.

UDF alleged the sudden move from the LDF to attack the UDF as a shrewd act to cover up the existing collusion of communists with RSS leaders in the state. UDF also brought into the fray the LDF's ineptness in not giving justice to Riyas Moulavi’s family in Kasaragod.
