‘Congress not able to raise their own flag,’ CM takes a dig at Congress

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The present trend in Kerala is in favour of the LDF, said Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan while addressing the media. He took a dig at the congress activists in Kerala. He pointed that a prominent Congress leader came to Wayanad yesterday to file his nomination papers, but did not see his party's flag anywhere there. He also asked why the Congress is turning into a party that cannot even raise their own party flag.

‘Rahul Gandhi is contesting in Wayanad as a Congress candidate. He is the national leader of that party. Although many Congress leaders reached Wayanad yesterday, why did they not raise the Congress flag? A media reported that the flag of Muslim League and Congress was omitted because of the controversy that stoked last time. Avoiding the flag was an act of cowardice.

Need the League's vote but not the flag. It is doubtful whether today's Congress leaders know the history of that flag. Along with the rich history of Indian freedom struggle, the party has forgotten the patriots who sacrificed their lives to raise the flag. That tricolor flag is the idea of Mahatma Gandhi. It represents all Indians as one. The flag of India was shaped by incorporating the basic essence of that flag. How many Congressmen were attacked during the freedom struggle by the British for raising this flag. Doesn’t Congressmen know this history,' asked Pinarayi Vijayan.

The chief minister also responded on the Karuvannur issue. He clarified that CPM does not have a secret account in Karuvannur. CPM does not have any black money deal. Pinarayi Vijayan said the money given by the people is handled transparently by the CPM and that is why they stood against the electoral bond.
