THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Veteran Congress leader AK Antony said that BJP candidate Anil Antony should not win in Pathanamthitta. Speaking to the media in Thiruvananthapuram, he said that follows the stand that family and politics are different.
"From the very beginning, I have been following the stand that family and politics are different. Don't make me say more about my children. I am not at all used to that language," Antony said.
"It is wrong for the children of Congress leaders to join the BJP. I am sure that Anto Antony will win in Pathanamthitta with a massive majority without me taking part in the campaign works. I am not going for the campaign due to some health issues. BJP's golden period is over. Its golden period was when the Sabarimala issue took place. That period is over. The Lok Sabha elections are going to take place. It is a do-or-die situation for the Congress. It is the election to redeem India. The BJP is attempting to suppress the idea of India. The BJP rule must come to an end. The Lok Sabha election is an election to preserve constitutional values like the apple of an eye. If Modi comes back to power, the constitution and democracy will be overthrown. People must write their judgement against the BJP as well as the Pinarayi's misrule in Kerala," Antony said.
Meanwhile, Anil Antony has come out criticising the statement made by his father. He said that Anto Antony would suffer a massive defeat in Pathanamthitta.
"I am sure that the people of Pathanamthitta will make me win the election. I've nothing but pity towards those standing up for the Gandhi family and campaigning for an MP who insulted the army. Today, there are only outdated leaders in the Congress. The outdated Congressmen are like dogs barking at the moon," Anil said.
