Youth suffers injuries in neck in clash at Manaveeyam Veedhi

attack

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: One person was injured in a clash at Manaveeyam Veedhi. Dhanu Krishnan, a native of Chembazanthi, was hacked and suffered serious injuries to his neck. Shemeer, the man accused of the attack, was taken into custody by the police. The police said that questioning behaviour towards a girl led to the attack.

Before this too, there have been many major and minor conflicts at Manaveeyam Veedhi. As part of this, the police surveillance in the area had also been tightened. A police aid post has also been set up for this purpose.

Last November, a man from Poonthura was beaten to the ground by a group of youths. The Thiruvananthapuram Museum police started an investigation after the video of the incident came out. However, no one filed a complaint in the incident. The video also shows a group of youths dancing around it during the conflict. It was not clear what caused the conflict.

In the police probe, it was found that a native of Poonthura sought treatment at Thiruvananthapuram General Hospital. Then the police recorded his statement.

The tourism department had earlier decided to start a night life project in Kanakakunnu as well. Food courts, stages, different types of lighting and hangout space were planned here. Initial steps have also been taken to start night life project in seven more places like Kazhakkootam and Shangumugam. The corporation is also considering preparing a special bye-law for the night life project.
