Man dies after well collapsed during cleaning in Kuzhalmandam

PALAKKAD: One person was killed after a portion of a well collapsed in Kuzhalmandam during a routine cleaning today. The deceased has been identified as Kuzhalmandam native Suresh (37). The accident took place today afternoon.

Suresh, who was standing beside the well, fell into it when a portion of the well collapsed. Three people, who were inside the well at this time, managed to escape. Suresh was brought out after several hours of rescue efforts. However, his life could not be saved.

The fire force, police and the locals jointly coordinated the rescue efforts. The soil was moved using JCB. The water in the well was also drained using a motor pump. However, Suresh was found dead in the evening.
