THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Ahead of the rainy season, Minister PA Mohammad Riyas has appointed a special team to inspect the running contract work on the roads. A team consisting of IAS officers and chief engineers under the department will visit the public works roads in each district and check the work progress. A high-level meeting held online under the chairmanship of the minister reviewed the progress of the ongoing work.
The Minister suggested that priority should be given to filling and repairing potholes on the roads before the rains. "Pre-monsoon works should be completed in time. On existing roads under construction, those contractors themselves have to fill potholes to ensure safe traffic," the minister said.
"The respective wings should take care to ensure that the roads under the maintenance of KRFB and KSTP are pothole free. Ensure that the drainage system is efficient. Ensure that zebra lines are visible.Potholes should be closed before the rains on the roads handed over to other departments including the Water Authority for work," he directed.
