THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: An officer who made a lapse in the case of deceased veterinary student JS Siddharth has received a promotion. Section Officer Bindu of the Home Department has been promoted to Under Secretary in the Ports Department.
Bindu had earlier faced action for making a lapse in handing over the documents regarding the case to the CBI. She was one among the three officials who were suspended in the section.
Meanwhile, the High Court had allowed Siddharth's mother MR Sheeba to join as a party in the case related to Siddharth's death. Sheeba had approached the court opposing the bail plea of the accused. Justice CP Mohammed Nias adjourned Sheeba's application along with the bail pleas of the accused to May 22.
A charge sheet has been filed against 19 people in the case so far. The CBI's final report stated that Siddharth was subjected to brutal ragging and physical assault. However, Sheeba pointed out that the cause of her son's death is still unclear and that it should be found out.
