KOCHI: Sabith, a native of Thrissur Edamuttam, used four passports and four bank accounts to covertly run organ trafficking, even to Iran. The revelation comes in the finding of the Special Investigation Team. The money received from the organ trade was paid to the victims through these accounts. The investigation also confirmed that crores of transactions have been made through these accounts. The police took Sabith into custody for 13 days and have started interrogating him.

According to police, Sabith is the main agent in the trade. A doctor from Hyderabad is also at the helm of the business while reports even point to the presence of agents even in Bengaluru. However, Sabith has denied knowing any of these people.

Meanwhile, some private hospitals that abetted the group are also under scrutiny. The Tamil Nadu police are also preparing for a comprehensive investigation considering the possibility of the organ trafficking racket taking root in Tamil Nadu as well. The district police chiefs have been directed to collect the information of the missing persons in all the districts for the last five years.
