Kozhikode drowns under heavy rains, water enters medical college hospital, first time, say employees

KOZHIKODE: Kozhikode Medical College Hospital was water logged due to the heavy rains. Water entered the mother and child care center of the medical college. The employees said that this is the first time that water has entered the building in half a century since its formation. The lower floor of the hospital is completely submerged. Following this, the children in the wards of the ground floor were immediately shifted to other places.

Gynecology and pediatric emergency departments, wards, women's ICU and emergency surgery room are located on the ground floor. Water entered the floor completely. The water was pumped out after bringing three motor sets. The cleaning staffs and other employees were engaged in it and the process continued till late last night.


Water has entered the pediatric ICU. A long time was needed to drain out the water as many equipment was installed here. Isolation wards were also flooded. The children admitted here were shifted to other places. Water entering the toilets made it difficult for the patients and the bystanders.
