THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The control room under the leadership of the Local Self-Government Department has started operations to resolve the difficulties faced by the public following the torrential rains. A 24-hour control room was started at the Principal Directorate, Thiruvananthapuram.

Ph number: 0471 2317214. The public can call this number to inform about waterlogs formed after rains, sudden outbreaks of epidemics and other problems.

Meanwhile, rain continues to wreak havoc in many districts of the state. Ernakulam and Thrissur districts are on red alert. An orange alert has been given in Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad districts and a Yellow alert has been issued in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Kannur and Kasaragod districts.

According to IMD, moderate rains are likely at isolated places in all the districts for the next three hours. A depression has formed in the southeast Arabian Sea off the coast of Kerala. As a result, there is a possibility that Kerala will see moderate rain for the next five days.
