Raining misery continues causing widespread damages in state

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Rains are continuing in the state causing widespread damages. The summer rains that have been continuing for days have caused heavy damage in Central Kerala and North Kerala. Waterlogging caused by heavy rains is affecting people's lives. Roads and houses have been flooded. The low-lying areas of Kochi are submerged in the rain yesterday.

There are widespread damages in Kozhikode. A tree uprooted in Kakkayam-Thalayode road. The wards of the Kozhikode Medical College Mother and Child Care Center, which flooded yesterday, returned to normalcy. The surrounding wall of the KSIDC building collapsed in Kinaloor village of Thamarassery taluk. No casualties were reported in the incident. Traffic was blocked at many places due to the uproot of trees.

There were widespread crop damages in Mavoor, Perumanna Annassery region. Thengilakadal Ayamkulam road collapsed due to rising water level in Chaliyar. Several houses were flooded in Perumanna. People were relocated. A well collapsed in Koduvally.


Water entered houses near Thrissur railway station and houses on Shornur road. Water entered near Bini bus stop in Swaraj Round and near General Hospital. Vehicles were submerged in water at many places. A part of the wall of Bishop's Palace collapsed.

Traffic was disrupted for three hours on the national highway at Alappuzha Thuravoor following heavy rains. Although the traffic was diverted through Makkekadavu, there was traffic jam here for a long time. Houses in low lying areas and lands in many areas of Kuttanadu, Champakulam and Mankombu were flooded.

A boat anchored at Nileswaram Thaikadapuram in Kasaragod was damaged in the strong winds. It is concluded that the boat was damaged when the rope on the ship broke and hit the nearby rock. The boat anchored yesterday was seen damaged this morning. Although there is no heavy rain in Kasaragod, there are thunderstorms and winds. One person died in the lightning that hit Kasaragod yesterday.

Transportation was disrupted after a tree uprooted at Mulayara on Angadikkal Road at Chandanapally in Pathanamthitta. A tree was also uprooted in front of Pathanamthita private bus stand.
