1.25 kg cannabis brought from Tamil Nadu seized from KSRTC

ALAPPUZHA: Ganja seized from KSRTC bus. 1.25 kilo of ganja was seized from the possession of Shefiq, a resident of Purakkad, who was a passenger in the bus. Shefik was caught by the police when the bus stopped at Thotapalli stop around 10:30 this morning.

The suspect was arrested following a tip-off. He was arrested when the ganja was brought to Kollam by train from Tamil Nadu via Punalur and then brought to Alappuzha by KSRTC bus.

Meanwhile, the accused fled after seeing the police officers who came to know about the sale of ganja in Thodupuzha. The incident took place on the Muthalakodam-Pazhukkakulam road on Tuesday night. Thodupuzha SHOS received information that two persons were selling ganja on the road. A team led by Mahesh Kumar reached the spot. When the police approached, the accused tried to run away. The CI grabbed the T-shirt of one of them. But the accused took off his shirt and ran away.

They escaped by leaving behind one and a half kilos of ganja and the scooter they were traveling on. The police took into custody the ganja, scooter, dhoti and t-shirt they were wearing. The police said that Ansil and Aromal have been identified as the accused and a case has been registered against them. SHO Mahesh Kumar informed that they are accused in many other cases.

The CI said that the accused will be arrested by the police soon. Propaganda about pepper spray on police is false. SHO Mahesh Kumar said that the news that the accused escaped by spraying pepper spray on the police is baseless. No such incident has occurred. The accused ran away after seeing the police. The police also said that other propaganda is totally untrue.
