MUMBAI: Manpada native Amit Khanvilkar is yet to recover from the shock of losing his wife in the blast that took place in the chemical factory in Dombivli in Maharashtra. He recognised the body of his wife Riddhi from her gold ring. Amit's wife Riddhi was one of the 11 people who died in the chemical blast. 11 people died and more than 60 people were injured in the accident that took place on May 23.

Amit, an employee of another company, was on leave on the day of the incident. He was at home in the afternoon when he heard a small explosion. Amit later learned that the explosion took place in the firm where his wife worked. It was the neighbours who first informed Amit about this. Although Amit immediately tried calling his wife's phone, her phone was switched off.

With this, Amit became increasingly tense. He then called some of his friends and carried out a search at the chemical factory and nearby places. Amit and his friends also circulated Riddhi's picture on some WhatsApp groups and hospital networks. After some time, he received a call from the hospital saying that four bodies were recovered from the site of the accident and that two of the deceased were women.

The bodies were kept at Shastri Hospital. Amit then rushed to the hospital and found that the bodies of the two women were charred beyond recognition. He, however, identified his wife's body after seeing her gold ring. Riddhi's colleague Rohini also died in the accident. Several nearby houses and buildings were damaged in the blast. Many people are still missing.
