KANNUR: It was on Saturday that a woman from Nedumpoil, Kannur came up with a shocking allegation saying that she was forced into the organ trade business by her husband and an agent. And now, more details about the murky dealings are out.

The woman revealed confessing to her husband and the agent about her fear of donating organs. She also said that Agent Benny has made almost 50 people, the victims of the organ trade.

“If you donate a kidney, the reward is Rs 40 lakhs and it will be more if you donate liver. However, these agents or middlemen usually give the victims just nine lakhs and will take away the rest as their commission. Due to their insistence, I even conducted a checkup to prepare for surgery. The date was fixed on 15th May, but I later backed off in fear of the surgery.” said the woman.

The woman has filed a complaint with the police saying that her husband and Benny threatened to kill her if she did not comply with their demands. Meanwhile, police have cleared that the woman went away from the surgery only over a money dispute.

Sabith Nasser, a native of Thrissur, was arrested a few days ago for organ trade business linking Iran. This arrest paved the way for more victims to come forward and reveal their horrendous sufferings. Meanwhile, a housewife from Alappuzha, a victim of the organ trade, filed a complaint alleging that she was tortured by four people, including a middleman of the organ mafia. However, it has been alleged that the investigation in the case is dragging.
