THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Driving school owners say that Minister Ganesh Kumar has not kept his promise on measures including increasing the number of driving tests.
The minister was of the view that 40 tests per day would be sufficient under one office. When the driving school owners protested against this, it was agreed to conduct 80 tests in the order of 40 per officer in offices with two MVIs. The settlement meeting held on May 15 also decided to increase the number of tests by deputing a person from the enforcement department if the number of applications in offices with only one MVI is high.
However, still only 40 Tests are being conducted. The explanation is that there is only one MVI. At the same time, the requirement for instructors to appear for the test has also been tightened. The driving school owners say that the government has cheated them. All Kerala Motor Driving School Instructors and Workers Association Treasurer Soumini Mohandas said that if this continues, the schools will have to be closed.
