'Inhaled poisonous gas'; big revelation in Kozhikode waste water tank tragedy, officials to shut down restaurant

KOZHIKODE: More information is now out regarding the shocking death of two workers who went into the depths to clean a waste water tank in Kozhikode. The autopsy report of Koorachundu native Renish and Kinalur native Ashokan brought out the reason behind the tragic incident. The post-mortem report said that the workers died of inhaling poisonous gas. It was also found that there were no injuries of any kind on their bodies.

Chevayur police have sent the sample and are waiting for the chemical report to know more about the poisonous gas that killed the workers. The incident happened last Friday around 4 pm. The police have registered a case in connection with the death of the workers.

At first, one of the workers went down into the narrow waste water tank but instantly lost consciousness. The second one stepped down into the darkness and received a similar fate. Firefighters came down with oxygen masks and pulled out the victims from the very narrow waste tank. Both were rushed to the Medical College Hospital, but their lives could not be saved.

Meanwhile, the corporation officials announced that the operating license of the hotel would be cancelled and the restaurant would be eventually shut down. It was in the hotel waste tank that the two workers inhaled the poisonous gas and invited disaster.
