NEW DELHI: Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court has rejected Kejriwal's plea seeking an extension of interim bail. With this, Kejriwal will have to continue in Tihar Jail. The court also extended the Delhi Chief Minister's judicial custody until June 19.
Kejriwal first approached the Supreme Court, the Supreme Court Registry and then the trial court seeking an extension of the bail granted by the Supreme Court till June 1 for the election campaign. On June 2, the trial court heard Kejriwal's plea but adjourned it for today. Kejriwal had applied for bail citing health reasons.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal surrendered in Tihar Jail on June 2 after the interim bail granted by the Supreme Court in the liquor case expired. Arvind Kejriwal reached the jail at 5 pm after offering prayers at the Rajghat where Mahatma Gandhi rests and at the Hanuman temple in Connaught Place. He was then brought before a Rouse Avenue Court judge via video conference. The court had remanded him till June 5.
