Biker dies after bus overturns and falls on him at traffic signal in Kochi, many injured

KOCHI: A biker died after a private bus fell on him after hitting a traffic signal in Madavana. The dead is Jijo Sebastian of Wagamon in Idukki. Many passengers of the bus sustained injuries and they have been admitted to the hospital. The locals and the police conducted the rescue operations.

The accident happened Sunday morning at Madawana near Kochi Marad. Kallada bus bearing registration number NL 01G 2864, going to Varkala from Bengaluru met with the accident. The bus overturned across the national highway.

The reason for the accident was the sudden braking of the bus after seeing the red signal. With this, the bus lost control, overturned and fell on him waiting at the signal. He sustained serious injuries and was rushed to the hospital, but his life could not be saved.

The passengers trapped inside the overturned bus were taken out and taken to the hospital. There were 42 passengers in the bus. The biker was taken out after the fire brigade and the police lifted the bus using a crane.
