Mother-in-law strangles woman for refusing to make tea

HYDERABAD: An appeal for tea worsened into an argument between a woman and her daughter-in-law, ending in the latter’s death. The shocking incident happened in Hyderabad yesterday. The dead is 28-year-old Ajmiri Begum. The accused Farzana has been arrested by the police.


The incident happened around 10.30 am yesterday. Farzana asked Ajmiri to make tea for her. However, Ajmira’s refusal resulted in the murder. Ajmiri said that she has no time now to make tea and has other work. The police said there was an argument between the two and then Farzana followed her to the kitchen and pushed Ajmiri down and strangled her with a scarf.


After being informed by the locals, the police reached the spot but Farzana had fled from there. Ajmiri's husband Abbas and two children were not at home when the incident happened. Ajmiri and Abbas got married in 2015. The police said that there were constant fights between the two over the past 15 days. Officials also clarified that other information can be given only after receiving the post-mortem report. The investigation into the incident is progressing.
