Sleeping in staff room, children finding it difficult to understand lessons taught in class; five teachers in Kottayam transferred

school

KOTTAYAM: The Director of General Education has issued an order transferring five government school teachers for dereliction of duty. The incident took place in Kottayam. The action was taken against five teachers of Changanassery Govt HSS.

English teacher Neethu Joseph, Botany teacher VM Rashmi, Commerce teacher TR Manju, Hindi teacher AR Lakshmi and Physics teacher Jessy Joseph have been transferred to different schools in northern Kerala. Neethu Joseph has been transferred to Kalloor Govt HSS in Wayanad, VM Rashmi to Neervaram Govt HSS in Wayanad, TR Manju to Velloor Govt HSS in Kannur, AR Lakshmi to Perikkalloor Govt HSS in Wayanad and Jessy Joseph to Beypore Govt HSS in Kozhikode.

Several students of the school had earlier raised complaints against the five teachers. The action was taken on the report submitted by the Regional Deputy Director (RDD) of Kottayam who investigated the complaints by talking to the students and the PTA.

Several students complained that Neethu Joseph was not teaching properly and that many students had failed in English.

It was alleged that Jessy Joseph had deliberately reduced the marks of some students who complained about her to the school principal. The students also complained that they were finding it difficult to understand the lessons taught in class by TR Manju and Rashmi.
