THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Heavy criticism was raised against Assembly Speaker AN Shamseer in the CPM district committee meeting on Monday. Several leaders stated that the Speaker's relationship with some businessmen of the capital city is not compatible with the communist way.
The leaders alleged that Shamseer has a close connection with a businessman who is a friend of Amit Shah's son. The businessman has nothing to do with the party and is not even ready to subscribe to the party newspaper. The leaders asked why the Speaker was constantly visiting the house of such a businessman.
Criticism was also raised against Thiruvananthapuram Mayor Arya Rajendran's behaviour. The committee criticized the Mayor's haughty attitude and arrogance which has now invited the ire of the public. The meeting also called the Mayor’s decision to block a KSRTC bus in the middle of the road as ‘hooliganism’. Some members in the meeting pointed out the missing memory card from the bus to have saved the Mayor from further embarrassment.
It was uncommon for State Secretary MV Govindan to skip the district meeting in Thiruvananthapuram but on Monday the leader went absent inviting criticism from members. District committee member Karamana Hari opined that a capitalist tendency has even seeped into the Chief Minister’s kitchen. M. Swaraj, who participated as a representative of the High Committee, warned Hari not to make baseless allegations. The meeting also strongly rebuked the working style of ministers Veena George and Muhammad Riyas.
