Kerala sees rise in fever, dengue and H1N1 cases, 11,050 persons seek treatment for fever in last 24 hours

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The number of people seeking treatment due to fever is on the rise in Kerala. In the last 24 hours, 11,050 people sought treatment for fever at hospitals. Three people died of fever. Out of more than 11,000 patients, 159 were diagnosed with Dengue and 42 with H1N1. The number of people suffering from fever is increasing day by day in the state.

According to the official figures of the health department, more than half a lakh people have come to various hospitals for fever in the last five days. As of last day, 55,830 people have been diagnosed with fever. Of these, 493 people were diagnosed with dengue and 69 with rat fever. 158 people were also confirmed with H1N1. Three died of rat fever and three died of H-1N-1 in the last five days.

The health department published the figures after the opposition raised criticism that the government was not releasing the figures on the number of people affected by the flu. Publication of the consolidated figures was halted after unpaid NHM staff went on strike. The figure was published on the website after the finance department sanctioned Rs 45 crore for NHM employees on Friday.
