Nava Kerala bus service to shift to Kozhikode-Thiruvananthapuram route

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Transport Department is planning to shift the loss-making Nava Kerala Bus Service to the Kozhikode-Thiruvananthapuram route.

From the 1st of this month, the bus ran profitably only on the 7th. Wednesday and Thursday were not operated due to lack of staff. KSRTC will get Rs 62,000 if the passengers are full in both the trips. The cost of a one-time bus including diesel and staff salaries is around 40,000 rupees. If at least 45,000 rupees is received, the service can be run smoothly. However, this month, the collection was over 40,000 in two days. The bus departs from Kozhikode at 4 am. Bengaluru to Kozhikode at 2.30 pm. This time sequence is also considered unfavourable.

Navakerala AC bus has push back seats. The fare is Rs.1240 and Rs.1256 if booked online. AC Sleeper seat in private bus can be booked at this rate. The trip is called Garuda Premium Bus. For other Garuda Premium services Kozhikode-Bengaluru online fare is Rs.1212. Rs 627 for Swift's Garuda AC bus.
