THRISSUR: Actor and Union Minister Suresh Gopi refused to be seated on the ‘special seat’ arranged for him at a function held at Kozhikode on Saturday. Suresh Gopi replaced the luxury chair provided at the venue with a plastic chair.

While inviting the guests to the stage, Suresh Gopi instructed the organizers to change the special chair allotted for him, which was responded with applause from the audience.

The video of the incident turned viral in the blink of an eye on social media. Netizens are heaping praise on the actor-turned-politician for his simplicity and benign nature.

“This is how a union minister should be” commented one user on social media.

Amidst the big praise, some people also came with differences and blamed the union minister for repeatedly engaging in theatrics. Some people shared an old video showing a similar incident with APJ Abdul Kalam and alleged Suresh Gopi of copying the former president's genial act for fame.
