Surgical glove stitched on patient's shoulder; complaint against Thiruvananthapuram general hospital

NEDUMANGAD: A complaint has been raised about medical negligence in general hospital Thiruvananthapuram after it was alleged that gloves were stitched on a patient's shoulder after surgery. Shinu, a native of Nedumangad Kaipadi, had to undergo this horrific experience and was also constantly suffering from pain.

It was on Monday that the pain turned unbearable and when checked by the relatives, a part of the gloves emerged outside from Shinu’s body. According to Shinu’s wife, her husband had seven stitches on the shoulder and it is understood that the gloves were also sewn along with it.

However, the hospital officials stood their ground explaining it as a ‘surgical drain method’ that uses a sterile glove to drain pus and blood from the body part.

“Instructions were given to the patient to take off the gloves after a few days,” said the hospital official. However, Shinu's family will move ahead legally and soon file a complaint against the hospital.
