THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Social media in Kerala is filled with humaneness, with many willing to adopt the orphaned children of the Mundakkai disaster, while some others showed willingness to breastfeed orphaned toddlers of the Meppadi disaster.
And now, Minister Veena George has responded to one such comment that appeared on her Facebook page. The minister replied to the comment from Kozhikode native Sudheesh.
Sudheesh’s comment: ‘I don’t have any children. Please give me one orphaned child from the disaster. My family will take great care of the child”
In a Facebook post, the minister noted that the government takes care of children who have lost their parents under the Central Juvenile Justice Act, of 2015, and all foster care and adoption are done through legal procedures.
MINISTER'S REPLY:
I noticed a comment below my Facebook post. Dear Sudhi, Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your kindness. The pain is completely understandable. Your words are straight out from the heart and it indeed fills me with tears.
The government takes care of children who have lost their parents under the Central Juvenile Justice Act, of 2015. Foster care and adoption are all done through legal procedures. Those who are registered with CARA (Central Adoption Resource Authority) can adopt babies.
If registered with CARA, definitely Sudheesh can take part in the adoption process. I decided to respond to your comment since many like Sudhi are contacting the child welfare development showing willingness to adopt forlorn children of Mundakkai.
