NEW DELHI: Encounter with terrorists continued in Jammu and Kashmir for the third day today as campaigning for the first phase of assembly elections is set to end tomorrow.
An encounter broke out between terrorists and security forces in Poonch and Kathua. The encounter in the Pathanateer area of Poonch started in the morning. The terrorists opened fire during a joint search operation by the army and police. The encounter continued in the evening at the site. An encounter broke out in Kathua in the evening. The encounter took place in the Bani forest area of Kathua.
According to reports, three Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists have been rounded up by the army. It is reported that one of them is one of the commanders of the organisation.
The first phase of polling in Jammu and Kashmir will be held on Wednesday. Polling will be held in 16 constituencies in Anantnag, Pulwama, Shopian and Kulgam districts along with eight seats in the Doda, Kishtwar and Ramban districts of Chenab Valley.
