THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Revenue Minister K Rajan rejected Kannur district panchayat president P P Divya over the death of ADM Naveen Babu. The minister said no matter who the people's representatives are, they should have maturity and common understanding in their interactions, movements and speech towards the public. The minister responded that a report has been demanded from the collector and the death of Naveen Babu has caused a great loss to the government.

There will be a serious investigation into this. So far, no complaint was obtained against Naveen Babu. He was a good officer. The collector has been asked to submit the report at the earliest. The minister also said that strong steps will be taken as soon as it is received.

Kannur ADM K Naveen Babu was found dead Tuesday morning. He was found hanging at his quarters in Pallikunnu. Kannur district panchayat president Divya had raised allegations of corruption against Naveen Babu yesterday. Divya came uninvited to Naveen Babu's send-off function organized under the leadership of district collector after he was transferred to Pathanamthitta and raised allegations of corruption against him.

Divya accused Naveen of corruption in giving sanction to a petrol pump in Chengalai. She left the stage saying that Naveen Babu should not work like this in the place where he was going and refused to stay for the presentation of a memento, saying she did not wish to stand for it. It is reported that he ended his life due to the humiliation he faced. Criticisms are being raised that the district panchayat president has shown her objection on the thing she recommended did not happen and was done later on someone else' recommendation.

Naveen Babu came to Kannur as ADM from Kasaragod during the last elections. He was supposed to board the Malabar Express from Kannur to Pathanamthitta last night after his sendoff function. He was found hanging in the morning in a search conducted after his family informed that he had not boarded the train. His wife Manjusha is Konni tahsildar. He has two daughters.
